Ontario Early Years Centres

In Ontario we have Ontario Early Years Centres (Centres de la petite enfance). You can take your child to these centres to take part in programs and activities together, ask questions, learn about programs and services, and talk with parents, caregivers and professional early year's caregivers.

We have Ontario Early Years Centres across Essex County and the City of Windsor.

These centres are paid for by the Government of Ontario and all of the services at Ontario Early Years Centres are free of charge.

These services are available for parents or caregivers for children who have children under 6 years old.

The staff members at these centres have a range of knowledge in early childhood development and are here to help you in these important years of your children's lives.

Examples of some potential programs and activities include:

  • Parents and child activities
  • Healthy snacks
  • Reading and writing programs
  • Visits by a Speech Pathologist or Early Literacy Specialist
  • Programs for children with different needs, such as preschool speech and language services, parent education, etc.
  • Information and referrals for various community support services for families
  • Special programs just for dads
  • Workshops by the Health Unit and other community partners
  • Some special events, such as demonstrations by Aboriginal drummers and visits to the Fire Department, etc.
