Emergency Services

Windsor-Essex County has many services that are available to help you if you are in an emergency, including police departments, fire departments and ambulance attendants.

If you are in a life threatening situation or are witnessing a crime then you should call 9-1-1. The person that you speak with will ask you some questions about the emergency so they know what type of help to send your way. Depending on your situation they may send an ambulance, a fire truck or a police vehicle.

The Emergency Services Introduction to New Canadians: Emergency Preparedness Toolkit is available in many different languages. This toolkit will help you better understand fire safety, home security, personal safety, vandalism, theft protection and more. It covers topics including:

  • Calling 911
  • Smoke alarms
  • Fire safety
