Windsor-Essex County is the southernmost region in Canada and is connected to the United States by the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.

Windsor is located south of Detroit. Since we are so close to the United States, some people choose to live in our community and travel to work in the United States each day.

Windsor-Essex County is located:

  • 800 km from Ottawa, Ontario (around an 8 hour drive)
  • 350 km from Toronto, Ontario (around a 4 hour drive)
  • 180 km from London, Ontario (a 2 hour drive)

The Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation has information on our location advantage, including our distance from major cities in both Canada and the United States of America.
